It’s been more than 100 years since the Triumph lingerie brand first launched. Back then it was a corsetry firm started by the corsetier Johann Gottfried Spiesshofer and the merchant Michael Braun. With six sewing machines and six employees, they founded Spiesshofer & Braun and began corsetry production in 1886, in a barn in Heubach (southern Germany)
There were the times of Belle Époque, when every woman wanted to look like the Empress. The Bust and the bottom were accentuated, the waist and the hips were tightly pulled into shape, in line with the ideal of regal beauty during the time of the German Empire.
16 more years passed and in 1902 Spiesshofer and Braun felt the need for a memorable brand name that would be understood wherever used. Inspired by the Paris Arc de Triomphe – “Triumph” became the new brand name. The company quickly reached the position of the leading lingerie manufacturer in Europe.
Fast forward up to 2008. A new modern Triumph Logo is at the very centre of a complete new corporate design, with which Triumph will engage more directly with its consumers and their desires and wishes. The current Triumph advertising campaign, photographed by the Swede Peter Gehrke, shows the self confident Triumph woman in natural and realistic life situations.
Triumph is also not only taking inspiration for its designs from within its own ranks: the Triumph Inspiration Award has been created so that talented young hopefuls have the chance to make a name for themselves in the world of fashion. The award recognises the talented young designers of tomorrow from all over the world and in doing so creates a dialogue between the company and creative young consumers.
