The classic 1967 film ‘The Graduate’ boasts some of the most iconic lingerie film sequences of all time. Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson dons stunning underwear that would not be out of place amongst collections today. Despite the negative undertones of her character, she exudes an elegance and grace that is both unique and beautiful.
Her animal print and monochromatic sets are timeless yet still have that vintage air which many designers today reference and mimic. Costume designer Patricia Zipprodt appropriately dresses Mrs. Robinson in these luxurious furs and fabrics to support her fierce and dominating persona.
Another notable scene in the film features dancer Lainie Miller in a silver sequined set, which she slowly slips out of to reveal an impressive show of her nipple tassel twirling skills. This film is a favourite of many generations, and most definitely worth watching for the vintage lingerie and costume.
I’m pretty sure that first bra is the classic vintage Vanity Fair leopard print. I wish I knew who made the other lingerie though. Great post!
