Art/design and I have a strange relationship. When I was very little, my mom enrolled me to a drawing and Chinese calligraphy class. I enjoyed it, but I enjoyed my Sat afternoon freedom more, so after a while I decided to quit. In high school I hated art class, because the teacher always praised the “beautiful” student and I was this ugly duckling. After graduating high school with a business degree, for some strange reason I went to San Francisco to study art/computer graphic/animation. It opened my eye, and I fell in love with it, and really deeply enjoyed my time in art school.

Eventually, I came back to Hong Kong, and one thing lead to another I became a TV producer in ad agency….hanging out with lots of art directors and creative people had definitely drawn me to design. Innately, I just love pretty things, all things about fashion, accessories, interior design, architecture…but who doesn’t?

I am very inspired to read about lots of etsy sellers and their stories, so with the support of my husband, I decided to create a new page of my life. My jewelry store YellowGoat is here to fulfill my new life goal to be happy and share that with others.

My first Jewelry line is called Objectication, I use silhouettes of every day objects to form a series of necklace, bracelet and earrings. The major part of the line use black and semi-transparent tea color laser cut acrylic, and a special silver edition features a handful of objects as necklace pendant which is hand made with 925 silver.

The objects are things I love, like high heel and lipstick or things I want to own but still has yet to own one, like vintage phone, suitcase or TV. I wanted to keep the guys in mind, so there are objects like headphones, man shoes and trucker hat. Men are into fashion accessories these days, but not all men are into skull, so some items of my line have a unisex feel to it.

I still have many many ideas in my head that I want to produce and I enjoy meeting the incredible artists who are making life happy and pretty in the process.

To see more products of YellowGoat, please go to the store.

I also keep a blog to talk about all things pretty.

“Design brings stories to life,” said Yves Béhar in 1999. Today, that idea is no longer breaking news, but Béhar was one of the first to talk about the narrative content of form and the emotional connection between person and object. In the decade since, he has become one of the heroes of the design world by performing extraordinary feats of design that fuse poetry with technological innovation. The work of Yves Béhar for Herman Miller, the Leaf Light (2006) uses a biomorphic grid of LEDs to deliver a wide spectrum of light; from 2800 to 6000 Kelvin, to be exact, or in layman’s terms, from a golden glow to pure white. The goal, says the designer, was to “allow the user to choose the intensity and color of light which best suits a functional need, mood or location.” The Leaf’s integrated microprocessor includes a dimmer, and the lamp remembers the user’s settings each time it’s turned on. Highly adjustable, the sculptural Leaf has two blades that independently rotate and pivot. The Leaf Light was designed according to Herman Miller’s demanding Design for the Environment (DfE) protocol, which emphasizes sustainability and recyclable materials.
