I’ve already started to dream about funky plaid coats, woolly leggings and jackets with short sleeves, odd minis, tunics in blue sequins, draped suits, rounded skirts and ruffled satin dresses, burgundy silk dresses and floral jacquards, embellished pumps – all telling stories from behind the scenes of Badgley Mishka, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Philip Lim, Anna Sui, Nanette Lepore, DVF, Max Azria and so on.
In case you forgot, the month of September has been invented for one reason only, and that reason is fashion week. From the 10th to the 17th of September, New York City is the heaven, the hell and the purgatory, the home of fashion, celebrities, designers, models and gods who set the fashion trends for the whole planet.
Being at the event is a big deal. Admission is by invitation only. Unless a miracle happens and I change places with Anna Wintour, I am still a mortal who’s unlikely to watch any of the shows right there, on the spot. However, I could still be in the city during the golden week. New York vacation rentals is a quick way to find a place to stay and who knows, I may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the runway.
In the end, highlights do happen in the streets, too. And there’s no better way to get drunk with sensations than breathing the fashion week through all pores. Any fashionista in New York at that time?
