Little Luxury or Bare Necessity

Recession! Economy, or better said the lack of it, affects all areas from the obvious real estate industry or job loss issues to the less obvious fashion or beauty industries. You may say, OK, so be it, but what does this have to do with me?
Well, if you’re like me, you love to pamper yourself with stylish, sometimes expensive things. True, just from now and then, when you can afford killing your wallet and playing on the budget. With me, this usually happens before holidays or birthdays - when I go shopping for a gift for someone else, I usually end up buying something cute and pretty for me, too.
However, I’m not a brand addict. Louis Vuitton, Prada, D&G are not my natural first choices on clothes and accessories and still, I spend a lot on no name modern/vintage/retro cute little things. Plus several other bucks that pay memberships to online websites I consider helpful (Visual Thesaurus is one of them), magazines, books and music, gym classes I don’t constantly go, facials or hair styling sessions and the list can go on and on.
If times go on in the same crappy manner, with the economy in cuffs, I’ll probably have to give up and get rid of some several of the above. The only problem is that I consider them all bare necessities. OK, OK I don’t need to buy all those glossy magazines but I’d prefer not to be forced to choose between anything else. And sure like hell, I would never sacrifice my Jeff de Bruges guilty pleasure.
In the same line, you can go on reading opinions of several fashion industry insiders about the way they are (not) affected by recession. How about you? What would you refuse to give up and What would you sacrifice with economy biting the dust?

You’re a woman! You’re a woman! Can you bear with that accusation? Hahahah.. That is very good, I am the opposite of you. I want my money’s worth and if i pay a gym, i must be there maximizuìing my time getting my membership’s worth..
On the brand thing, I am also like you. I never look at brands. I look at how things fit me.
WOmen just love shopping and love pampering themselves. I just dunno why. Maybe it is because of the fact that when we have something new, like shoes, clothes, etc, we are so happy and elated about it..
Or do i feel strange.. do you feel the same way? This way we can say, “who cares about that sinking economy?”
This is a very womanly post… Well, who can blame women… ^^ And who doesn’t love being pa,pered and to have pleasures…sigh..
Yes, vanity is important to us. I do look at brands but only wear ones and trends for that matter that do justice my shape.
Good read.

@rogue : in fact, when i’m shop hunting, i only think about that very moment. I rememberthe existence of economy, bills to pay, food to buy only when I get home with my trophies.
