Guilty Pleasures

Gingerbread

I drink my coffee black, but I eat chocolate. I can even say that I have a strong and solid chocolate background. Except from any kind of strawberry filling which I loathe, I’ve tried every type of chocolate bar in my country (Mars, Snickers, Milka, Heidi, Ritter being just the common ones). White, milk, bitter, dark, unsweetened - been there, done that. Friends brought me chocolate from very far away or places I haven’t been so far. I got to the point of recognizing brands just based on tasting a tiny bit of it.

Every time I go abroad for holidays, I visit traditional shops (that is if I find any) and try something new out. Or fancy chocolatier’s boutiques where I spend my last dime on the pleasures of feeling a piece of chocolate melting in my mouth. Any other chocolate victims here? I could write a novel about my chocolate experiences but I’ll stop here.

I went shopping for some groceries today and as chocolate here no longer satisfies me, I was looking for something else that could replace the yearn for something sweet. Oh, forgot to mention that I don’t like candies, or cookies. With Christmas not very far away, supermarket’s shelves are already being filled with Christmas related products. And I found German gingerbread on one of them. Bought it, returned home and took a bite. It’s good. But it’s not perfect; it doesn’t take my mind away from chocolate. Therefore, I turn to you. What’s the best chocolate you have ever eaten?

Mmm, to make things a little more tasteful, here’s a prize for that. For every chocolate brand you suggest (homemade doesn’t count) and I haven’t tasted already, you get 200 EC. If you’re not using EC, I’ll add you to my link roll. The only thing is that you’ll have to trust my word for what I did and did not eat in chocolate terms. Enjoy~ and remember to be moderate on chocolate, too. I’m an exception that should not be taken for granted as a role model.

  2. I’ve eaten Philippine Chocolate several times. As for champorado, I know it’s a sweet rice and cocoa pudding/porridge. Not a chocolate. So, it doesn’t count here. If I mistake in any way, let me know.

  3. I cannot give you a name, only a description. Went up north in NYS for the men to do a bit of hunting.
They all get together and camped out in a fully stocked cabin. off subject but we never had venison.
The deer were very, very safe! But while the boys are gone it is time for us gals to do shopping.
We crossed into Canada, just a skip away and directly to a small French Pastry Shop.
Most items were highlighted in a rich & wonderful chocolate. I am not a young thing, & in all my days
I had never eaten anything so perfect. It did not take an expert to know great chocolate when eaten.
If ever in Canada look for a tiny French Pastry Shop and you’ll swear you found heaven.

I must admit that I only ate the average chocolate from the Niagara Falls and some other chocolate a friend brought me as I have never been to Canada.

And French pastries ….are so French!!! and delicious!
