Guilty. For the last two weeks I got a bit carried away with celebrations and didn’t have as much time to come by Guilty Pleasures and see what you wonderful ladies have been up to lately, but I’m back now, with fresh tips and secrets, of which some I already knew, some I realized recently and I’ve been dying to share it all with you. Remember my friend Monalisa? Yes, she is just as fantastic, but somehow she still can’t find too much time for herself. So what did I do? Went down to her office and told her we have an emergency to take care of. Half and hour later, we’re enjoying the most delicious carrot cake and the best ginger tea ever. Suddenly I see my friend getting a little uncomfortable. “Is it the chair? Is it the ginger? Is she upset I got her out of the office? No it can’t be, it’s a wonderful day outside the office walls.” But then she does this thing and I’m thinking “Oh there it is”. The classical bra straps falling down.
Ladies, whenever you feel your bra is not fitting like it used to, ask yourselves: Should I adjust the straps? Tighten the band? Are the cups not supportive anymore? HAVE I BEEN WEARING THIS BRA FOR TOO LONG?
Too many questions, so, to avoid the confusion I decided to point out the 7 main bra issues that may occur and an easy fix for each of them.
1.Issue:Straps are falling down
Solution: Adjust the straps more often, even after each wash. From all the bra parts, straps stretch out first. Make sure they fit your bust perfectly every day.
2. Issue: Straps are digging in
Solution: Make sure your bra style and size fit your bust shape. It’s important to remember that the weight of your breasts should NEVER rely on the straps, but on the band of the bra. When straps start digging in, it means you may need wider straps or a smaller band size.
3. Issue: Band is riding up
Solution: What a pesky problem. Bra riding in the back, sagging in the front. Awful. It usually means the band isn’t tight enough, so first do that, tighten up the band and see how it fits. If the band already fits well, try adjusting the straps until you feel most comfortable.
4. Issue: The underwire isn’t where it should be
Solution: A very common problem and the solution is most often in the band. Try tightening it or going down one size.
5. Issue: Center gore is not where it should be or is digging into your skin
Solution: If you have a smaller chest, a bra with no underwire would be the best fit for you. If you have a larger chest, the center gore should fit firm against your sternum. For that, go up in cup size until the center gore fits perfectly and no wires dig into breast tissue.
6. Issue: Breasts are bulging out of the bra, the classic “quad-boob”
Solution: If boobs are bulging out the top of the cups, your cup size is too small. You want a smooth cleavage, not a bulgy look that also feels incredibly uncomfortable. Go up in one size. If boobs are bulging on the sides, you want to look into other bra styles such as triangle bras. If it doesn’t work, simply go up in one size.
7. Issue: Underwire creates back bulge
Solution: Don’t worry, you can fix this too. You may need a bra with a wider band. You could also try a scoop shape in the back, it helps distribute support symmetrically which is what you need.
